I just wanted to share the talent of one our musicians who played a huge part in the success of the 2014 Joy of Music International Style. Kauai’s Kyle Chew is a master of the Shakuhachi Japanese bamboo flute who volunteered to play on the foyer of the Ko’olau ballroom as one of a series of musicians who welcomed the guests as they arrived. He also got recruited to provide a moving background to the calligraphy of Setsuko Tokumine. We’re thrilled he jumped in and the result was one of the highlights of the evening.

Here’s a video of Kyle doing his thing, truly amazing. The sounds that come out of that simple piece of bamboo leave your Blogmeister speechless. Enjoy!
